Cloud Technology

Cloud technologies offer a dynamic way for businesses to access IT resources from anywhere in the world. The right technology configured correctly, can lower businesses overall running costs and increase efficiency. However, an inherent ability of cloud technologies allows any person or system to attempt access of a dataset from anywhere worldwide. For this reason, cloud technologies need to be protected and secure with strong, modern authentication mechanisms.

Office 365

Office 365 is one of the largest cloud platforms in the world, is provided by Microsoft and is the best example of a leading cloud technology platform. Many businesses have already made the switch to use Office 365 services. Popular products accessible through Office 365 platform are listed below.

Exchange Online

Microsoft Exchange Online is a hosted messaging solution that delivers the capabilities of Microsoft Exchange Server as a cloud-based service. It gives users access to email, calendar, contacts, and tasks from PC/Laptop/Mac, the web and mobile devices. It integrates fully with Active Directory, enabling administrators to use group policies, as well as other administration tools, to manage Exchange Online features across their environment.

Subscribe to Exchange Online

Organisations that subscribe to Exchange Online retain control over the messaging services they offer to users, but they do not have the operational burden of on-premises server software. These servers are housed in Microsoft data centres and are accessible to users on a wide range of devices from inside a corporate network or over the internet.

OneDrive & SharePoint

OneDrive

OneDrive is online storage space in the cloud that’s provided for individual licensed users in an organisation. Use it to help protect work files and access them across multiple devices. OneDrive lets you share files and collaborate on documents, and sync files to your computer.
OneDrive is included in Microsoft 365 and Office 365 plans, in SharePoint plans, and can also be purchased as a standalone plan.

SharePoint

SharePoint in Microsoft 365 helps organisations share and manage content, knowledge, and applications to:

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is the hub for teamwork in Microsoft 365. The Teams service enables instant messaging, audio and video calling, enriched online meetings, mobile experiences, and extensive web conferencing capabilities. In addition, Teams provides file and data collaboration and extensibility features, and integrates with Microsoft 365 and other Microsoft and partner apps.

Cloud Solutions Provider

CAP Technologies are a registered and approved Cloud Solutions Provider. This allows CAP Technologies to design and directly provide a vast array of Cloud Products. One of the biggest benefits to this is to simplify billing. Along with any other services from CAP Technologies your Cloud licensing will just be another line item on your monthly invoice.

Office 365 Backup

Even if your business has successfully moved all aspects of your IT to the cloud, it mustn’t be ignored from a backup and disaster recovery point of view. Microsoft themselves even recommend using a third party service to backup content, protecting your data in the event of 365 being inaccessible. See section 6.b https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/servicesagreement/

Directory-as-a-Service (DaaS)

Currently, different forms of cloud-based management systems exist. An example of this is DaaS. Directory-as-a-service is a relatively new technology which allows businesses to integrate workstations with workloads configured in the Cloud. Use of DaaS means modern security principals can be applied to staff and workstations without the need for traditional on-premise servers and other infrastructure. This then translates into hardware savings which should be factored into hardware dependent business every 5 years. Our clients utilising DaaS have broad manageability on corporate resources and their access whilst maintaining strong security principals. Using DaaS allows security baselines and Multi-Factor authentication to be applied to work accounts and apps with ease. The result is an incredibly versatile business model that allows staff to work across the globe whilst the organisation maintains security and ISO standards.
